Cow whispering and the pantry
September 27, 2009
Busy, busy this time of year. Everything needing doing at once – our first real bout of fall rain is predicted for next week telling us the long days of summer are gone.
Yesterday we held a milk cow class with 5 attendees – some with cows, some looking to get a family cow. Della actually behaved and didn’t scare anyone off
But, with livestock it is nice to work with them continually – here is a video of our bucket calf, Ty.
And, since I have been playing with my cows too much I fear, I am blogging about time saving tips for the pantry at Simple-Green-Frugal Co-op today! Who has time to cook when they can play with cows instead?

Wow! Ty would win 1st place in a Western Pleasure Class for bovines! Very impressive.
Marcia in WY, eek! Wouldn’t I have to ride him then? How ’bout Halter class/
I was so impressed that I watched it three times and then showed that to my daughter! Ty is cute!
Claudia, he is a doll, for now – he is pretty funny though.
No way…verbal gait changes…SO cool!! The milk cow lessons sound like such a great idea. Maybe you can video your next class and set up a paypal online for those of us a bit beyond commuting distance who’d like to learn it anyway

Robbyn, Way – milk is a powerful motivator when you’re a calf
I wonder what Della would think of the video idea? She usually kicks at the camera – but she did like showing off I think on Saturday.
Seriously…don’t know how it’s done, but I’m sure folks have done it…I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d be excited to see you offering your classes via video or DVD via paypal or somesuch. I’d totally be buying them up and watching and rewatching! Of course Della might start demanding her own personal trailer, manicure, and masseuse, ha
Milk class – what a good idea. I would attend anything you offered to teach if I wasn’t so far way.
I hope you all had fun!
How did you teach Ty that? That is TOO cool!
Nita, your video of Ty is awesome. He is such a cutie.
I enjoyed your post about your pantry. Just excellent.
I keep telling my husband about the things you write. RIght now he is planting a garden for the deer of all kinds of interesting root vegetables and peas.
