Sunny side up

December 20, 2009

Soon the days will start getting a little longer.  I can’t wait.

The egg yolks remind me of the sun, which we haven’t seen in awhile.

The hashbrowns remind me of how much I like potatoes!

Have a great Sunday and stay warm!

You got it, I love the phrase- “sunny side up”. This is the time of year I start looking at real estate on the web in places like New Mexico, Chile, Argentina. A girl can dream can’t she!

Finding Pam, they are pretty tasty, all that is missing is the bacon! If only pigs were all bacon. Sigh.

I’m “supposed” to be taking a break from blogging, but I snuck a peak in here … and what have you posted? What, I ask, has greeted my eyes? Why, my beloved eggs! Four golden goodies at once, no less! How could I resist commenting? They look wonderful, as do the golden potatoes. Hope your oven-spring has been repaired, too. Now … when should I arrive to eat those eggs for you? :-)

Paula, you stinker! You’re supposed to be on vacation! Is Santa bringing you some chickens?? :) Then you could have eggs still warm from the hen!

See you at 5:00 am ;)

Delicious!! I can tell just by the color of those hashbrowns that you fried them in butter. I tend to lose weight when I eat cook my breakfast exactly like that. I”s so nutritious and satisfying. My favorite breakfast. Except none of my hens are laying. I’ve never had them all stop laying like this before. I am counting down until the days start lengthening. Yes! We are almost there!!

Doris, yep it’s the butter. I have pullets so they are going strong although the eggs are still small. Can’t wait for the days to get longer even by just a minute!

I can never get my hashbrowns that nice, crispy brown. Butter, I assume, and high heat? Low? Already partially cooked potatoes? Help?

LN, I think it helps that the potatoes are not the same as what is in the supermarket. Most store potatoes are the same varieties that are also grown for fast food and the frozen food markets. They DO NOT want their fries to brown, so the potatoes are vigorously tested for whiteness! When potatoes are frozen the starch turns to sugar and the potatoes brown. Apparently my potatoes wouldn’t pass muster at McD’s!!

I don’t think the butter hurts either. And sometimes they are boiled and ready and sometimes I grate a fresh potato. All turn out well.

First I saw the eggs and thought: Mmmmm- fried eggs (I LOVE fried eggs) and then I scrolled down and saw the hash browns and was surprised to hear “Oh, MAN!” from my own lips. In what did you fry the hash browns? They look yummy!! and I really, really, love fried eggs. I might have to have one for lunch.
