Fence quickie
A short photo essay on why I love rebar for my portable fence.

Hello? Note rebar fence post on the right, it was still holding up the paddock back fence when I first laid eyes on it. I don’t ask the cows what happened and they don’t tell.

This post is an extreme case, it looks like when I drive over them, but I’m not the culprit this time. The rebar posts are pretty tough. To straighten the post in the pasture, I can use the the ground if the post is only bent over at the soil level. Or in an extreme case like this I can use the hitch hole in the bumper or in the hitch itself if the trailer ball is removed.

Insert post, and bend post in the opposite direction to straighten at each bend.

Keep bending until post is “straight.”
Not perfect, but usable for sure. The posts will lose their temper after too many of these treatments, and it will be apparent when driving them in the ground. When that happens they go in the barrel that is reserved for the misfit posts – and can be used in areas where not much strength is needed, for instance running a power fence to the Electronet or for an offset fence near a permanent fence.

Optional: cute cat, tear mended jeans, and beat up farm truck.

I love rebar. So handy! Great kitty pic too!
No. Those are not optional. They seem to me to be critical elements of a productive day on the farm. Dogs would fit too, but basically I’m a cat person and its good to see such a beautiful kitty supervising your work.
Cute cat – is he part Bobcat?
By the way, what do you mean, beat up trucks aren’t necessary?!?
Ver-r-ry cute cat.
AHHH! You do things just like us!
