A working dog can be a hunting dog.

Or actually, a Type A dog owner ends up with a Type A dog.

Bok Choy can be pretty and tasty.

Same with red cabbage.

Remember to pick a red stalk of rhubarb too,  or your curd will look like phlegm.  (Still tastes good, though.)

Even Type A people plant crooked rows.

Is that rhubarb curd you’re alluding to? Please post the recipe!!! I wish I had your nice red rhubarb – mine is green, but still tastes divine.

My Dad always told me that he could recognize my garden by the crooked rows… I like to think that every so often he looks down from above and sees my still wandering rows and knows that I am keeping the faith with the soil and our land. Is a straight line really all that important in the giant scheme of things? (sure hope not….)

Looks like predator control in that first photo…

Swiss Chard is pretty and tasty, too.

    PS–found your blog via stumblinghomestead.com – I enjoy it!

Gawd I love that pooch! And I know what you mean about the rhubarb — I rarely get red stalks, so I add strawberries or raspberries for color.

Terry says that you get more crops out of crooked rows!

Were the peppers planted just after a couple of hits off your “Cosmic Pipe”?

Love the first picture! That looks like something we need to be doing….lost another disobedient chicken yesterday….it couldn’t stay within it’s confines. That fox is brazen. He’s always out in the early afternoon and hunts MY chickens. Hopefully all the obedient chickens are safe within the fence.

Things are growing S L O W L Y here!!! No sun! Dang it’s going to be a lettuce and pea year if that doesn’t change! But I suspect the heat is going to hit all at once and we’ll be dry all summer. Typical.

There have been many days when my rows look like that too : )

LOL, love those crooked rows. I put up string lines, do a 3-4-5 sometimes to make things square with the tunnels, etc. even. But those dirt clods just get in the way when I’m making the trench. I finally gave up. The only people who need arrow straight rows are the people driving tractor. For asthetics, curvy, wavy rows can have a more organic look to them and if you’re walking, and doing all hand work, not straigh works just as well as arrow straight. ;-)

Hmm. Shotgun. Plastic hoophouse. You can be glad that’s not me!

Stopping by from A Diva’s Garden. That is too funny. I’m a Type A personality. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become a little more tolerant, but I think that would drive me crazy. Hope you get lots of produce from them.
