He Loves Me

My sweetheart should write a book.  You always see back to the land books written from the frou-frou perspective.  How to paint your toenails while riding your Gator out to watch the farmer man get dirty, and come in and whip up a dinner of meat and potatoes, to, you know,  feed the man (farmer).  And of course, plenty of chapters on what fashionable farm wives wear and how to plan a summer vacation!

What happens when a city boy meets a farm girl?  He gets a crash course on how to get a farmer tan while covered in grease and dust.  He learns that you cut hay when the weather is right, and that is your vacation, and that it is a vacation to get through the summer with only a few equipment breakdowns.  He learns that the bouquet a cowgirl wants is the smell of high brix hay, not a handful of flowers.  He also hones his sense of humor.  He told his neighbor we went on our first date July 26th and got married on July 27th!  He neglected to clarify at first that there was a 13 year gap between the two dates.  He likes to ease into things…

Happy 33/20 Hangdog!  You can swath my hay anytime!

A city boy and a farm girl….the perfect match in my eyes! ;-) I am banking on the fact that this combination brings up very well rounded children…LOL

    ;-)

This was my FaceBook status a couple of weeks ago, after I got my 44 tons into 1600 tight little 2-string bales, then drove back home:

“The crew got about 1200 bales put away snug in the barn yesterday – excellent work! I got home ~2am. No longer wearing eau de diesel perfume. I broke a fingernail. Darn.”

Love your city-boy-meets-farm-girl crash course. Love the time it took your city boy to realize he was a farm boy at heart. Blessings on your marriage, your land, your critters, and you ;-) .

Happy Anniversary! Just finished reading, “This Life is in Your Hands”; made me appreciate the human relationship part of the agricultural production process. All the knowledge and learning will fail if the relationships don’t work…being able to appreciate each other, even after full days of working together in the heat and dust, that is love! Here’s to 33/20 more years!!

Happy anniversary, Nita and Mr Matron. And Nita, it is YOU who should write a book. I would be the first to buy it.

    Happy anniversary!!

We also went 13 yrs from first date to married, but not the next day. :) ) My DH was also a city kid and I grew up on a tiny farm. Come September it will be 37/24. Our way of celebrating the 37 is the local agricultural fair and riding the Ferris wheel.

That is what I would call a looong first date! Congratulations to you both. It’s really nice to ‘know’ a happy couple working toward a common goal.
