Beautiful Pics. All those vegies suggest a big pot of stew with fluffy biscuits. Especially love the color of those cat eyes. we are enjoying our Viking potaoes that you shared with us. They are so good. They are definetly on our next year garden list.

No captions!? What is the second variety of mushroom shown?

    • October 19, 2011 12:18 pm

It started out as a wordless wednesday and I guess that is my excuse… I have no idea what the mushroom is, it is the predominate fungi in the paths where I have spread compost (garden and greenhouse) and on the compost pile as well.

    Simply beautiful…

So…what’s been eating the heirloom squash? Love the kitties…but as for fall colors…do yours change to white in the winter like bunnies? :) Are you feeding Jane root crops yet?

    • October 19, 2011 6:05 pm

Mice! They are spitting out the pulp and eating all the seeds :( I wanted to leave the squash out until frost threatened, but at a squash every other day, I had to cry Uncle and bring them in.

Jane is only getting a carrot or two a day, we still have pretty good grass, although she is in lockdown (hay) at night because of hunters :(

Do you have a recipe for the cabbage (I think that’s what is in the jar?) that you would be willing to share? I have a lot of cabbage that I need to process.

Michelle, its just kraut made from red cabbage. Three tablespoons salt to 5 pound shredded cabbage. I did ferment it in a crock and then transferred it to jars for fridge storage.

I always “thought” I hated brussel sprouts. Then I ate them at a friend’s house for Christmas and learned I actually loved them. Think of those 58 years of wasted meals. – Margy

I know! That’s how I viewed spinach. Boiled beyond recognition, slopped on a school tray and doused with vinegar. Slimey :( Now I like it as long as it doesn’t get boiled to death :)

Very nice! Your brussel sprouts look especially tasty to me!
