This Past Week in Pictures
ummer has arrived with a bang finally. The hot weather we were waiting for is here. It’s been a heifer sorting, artificial inseminating, berry picking, wood cutting, kraut making, chestnut blooming, pear swelling, tomato gorging, compost stacking, full moon, last bale of hay hauling week. No time to take a breath because winter is on the way. I feel it in weeds I pull – they don’t yield like they did a few weeks ago. I smell it on the air, the first leaves decaying, and the scent of elder flowers always means don’t tarry with those tasks, this is a fleeting time. Soon the mornings will be brisk and you’ll see your breath. Hurry Hurry!

Love that truck! I really enjoyed this moon – it was especially beautiful here too. Beautiful photos : )
Me too! It’s a sweetie, affectionately known as Red
Gotta love those $500 dollar workhorses!
Still enjoying the moon even though it’s not full anymore.
Loving your photos – what a bounty – Have a Great Weekend:)
CA, thanks! You too!
As I just finished wrapping 50 cabbage rolls I so wish I had those stunning cabbages in your basket…still no new ones here.
Farmer, those came from the hoophouse, and the ones outside are starting to bulk up a little maybe…and third cabbage planting is planted in the hoophouse for winter. I love cabbage rolls – and don’t make them enough
Your strawberries are beautiful! My everbearing ones are still green, not even a hint of orange yet. The blueberries are more than making up for it though. Those cabbages look yummy.
Those strawberries made my mouth water!!!
Great photos! I wish I lived on a farm!
You made strawberry sauerkraut? You know, that might just work…
HFS, yep I needed to do something to choke down those pesky strawberries
Actually we choked the berries down with some of Jane’s ice cream
I know that feeling of winter being on the way. Here in Latvia, it feels like we have only just got everything in and now we are looking to harvest – although like you it has been slow this year for things to take off. Our urgency is more acute as I think you have milder winters than we do. Once the winter comes there is no chance of veg in the hoop house.
