We’ve been basking in some nice weather, the photos say most of what has been going on here this fine January 2013.

Birthday cake fixin’s.  I used this recipe, a great way to use up excess eggs, and extra cream in the ganache frosting.  Delicious.

Winter cabbage

Winter cabbage

Great red cabbage for rotkohl or when we get all adventuresome 😉 with our meatball and cabbage dinner.  Who knew adding a little color in winter could brighten your day? The red cabbage is delicious by the way, and holding up well to all our see-saw freezing days and nights.

Vole hunters

Vole hunters

These guys.  What can I say, they were “helping” in the garden while I cleaned the chicken house the other day.  Looked more like tilling than hunting to me.

Dirt Bag

So that is all that is new or old on the homestead this fourth week of January.

Looks a whole lot more colourful than our monochrome white and black

Jane is looking wonderfully fecund and rich in that shot. In NZ we would say she has ‘been in a good paddock’. All shiny and fat! Delightful.. c

Cecilia, thanks, you can’t tell in that photo that she was about to chase me out of the field! Devil cow!

Looks nice. I should vacation in Oregon. Negative infinity outside this morning with no wind.

Looks like a wonderful late-January life down at your place… Hoorah for you, for capturing such sweet images amidst our recent, revitalizing winter Sun! (ps… we should meet sometime 😉
