Goals ‘09
Goals ‘09 and beyond…
Be a good parent.
Make time for family and friends.
Take good care of any animals that I have in my care.
Help other people do the same.
Not waste any resources that I have access to, such as: food, water, firewood, electricity, gasoline, and time!

Here I expected to see things like ‘tighten fence in West woods field’ but this list is much better. Good for you for keeping it to the point and important.
Colleen, have you been busy or what? I checked in the other day and you haven’t been posting
Thanks for the note on my goal list – if I’m too specific, I tend to overlook the things that are most important to me. I think of you everytime we have maple syrup!
I stumbled upon your blog by accident — but seems we have a lot in common. I live on an 80-acre farm in the Midwest and my husband and I live just as you do — “waste not, want not” is our common theme. I just started my blog — “Apocalypco” which will be a hodge-podge of thoughts, advice, tips, life on the farm, experiences, etc…
Is farm living great or what? A day never goes by that I don’t thank God for having the opportunity to experience life this way.
Our garden was late being put in this year, too, and with all of the rain, it’s sure taking its time maturing. But every year is different — won’t be canning probably until September (if then)!
Take it easy — I’ll be sure to stop by now and again.
Sage, thanks for stopping by. I will look forward to reading your blog.
I don’t think I’ll be canning much from the garden until September either.
This is the first time I’ve been over to your blog – I’ll definitely be back to read thru some more…once the snow comes, and I have more time in the house!
Annie
Annie, Hi – your blog looks familiar, but I can’t remember how long ago I came across it, but I remember the raspberry photo.
Thanks for stopping by, but I’m not looking forward to snow! We have mostly rain here in the winter. That’s our downtime.
MoH,
My mind is reeling with questions~~! WOW!!
Do you give tours of your “operation”?
Do you have any turkeys available?
Do you have any “sweetmeat” squash recipes?
SO glad I found your site! Amazing!
Tina
Nita, do you have an email address? You can email me at srhunnie@gmail.com. Just wanted to touch base with you about the ornament exchange. Hope you are staying warm. We got about 8 inches here in Portland. Crazy!!
I just found your site, and it’s right up my ally. I love 18th and 19th century rural life, and write about it (or try to), but you’re living it. I’ll be checking in whenever I can.
Regarding goals, I live by them. They make my life both frustrating, and enriching. It’s very bold of you to post your goals to the world! Bravo!
Last week, I posted “The seven simple truths of the Heirloom Orchardist” which seem to have some application here. I’d be honored if you checked it out.
