Gorgeous shot. Love the tree. Settings on the camera? How do you take a picture of the moon and make it work?

Marilyn, I have no idea, I “borrowed” this from the kid’s photos! I’ll have her fill you in when I catch up with her 🙂

My camera’s a bridge camera (Canon SX20IS) so the dial stays on M for the most part. If your camera has them, the PSAM modes are essential to getting a good shot of the moon. I personally prefer Manual because it offers the most flexibility. If your camera has manual focus, max out the zoom and then manually focus to infinity – it’s a lot easier that way to get sharp focus for handheld shots as well as catching any objects between the camera and the moon.

Completely handheld, in M, the settings were: f/5.7, shutter speed 1/60, ISO 100. If you want a more indepth look at the settings, you can see the full exif data here. Let me know if have any more questions. 😀

Love it. I never can get a good picture of a really beautiful full moon. The moon’s as big as a beach ball to my eye, but the camera delivers only a marble. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry. The first thing I looked for was the Halloween bike from ET crossing the moon’s image.

    Your moon is gorgeous!
