Lucy, Jed, Randy and Mongo the mechanic – 1983ish

Geez, haven’t seen duck Carhartts around here in years.  Or these wonderful puppies, who all lived to be seventeen.  That’s a lot of farm dogging!  The mechanic isn’t too bad either 😉

I wish Carhartts lasted as long as the dogs — they certainly last longer than most work pants, but they’re not quite that good. The mechanic/logger/welder in my house always insisted on black ones, since they didn’t show the grease, oil and dirt to quite the same degree. Of course, after a million washings, they were more of a dark grey and still showed the stains…

I finally got him to quit the duck thing, go with the denim loggers, the twill weave of denim is a much better weave than duck especially with the double leg, just too much stress from the double thickness. He did win the “Most Worn-Out Carhartt” contest at Coastal one year. I think he got a pair of jeans out of the deal.

I think so too, and the one lying down under the truck lost a front leg when he was 18 months old, he went a long time on three legs jumping in the pickup until he was in his teens.

My grandson loves his Carhartts. Just sent him 2 pair, tan and black, for his birthday. Love the pictures of your dogs. All of our dogs each had their own certain personalities. For sure looking at your guy makes you smile. Such great memories.from our pictures, such treasures.

I know, it goes so fast doesn’t it? Oh those three dogs, that pack certainly had it’s own personality.

You live a dream, do you know? Not everyone’s dream, maybe not even my dream, but a mighty fine dream.

Do you treat your dogs/cats with any flea, tick and heartworm medication? My cat was sick for a week after I applied what the vet recommends. Much of what I’ve found on the internet leaves me wondering if there are any remedies that will do the job that are not chemically based.

The black and tan dog looks so much like my husband’s old dog! Uncanny! I literally did a double take.

It’s funny isn’t it, he was the only black and tan one in his litter too and a natural bob. I miss him, he was a go-getter when it came to coons, so little yet so mighty.
